Refugees in Uganda Becoming Entrepreneurs to Make a Living (Trust.org)

Refugees in Uganda are finding a way to survive and sometimes even thrive by becoming entrepreneurs and starting their own businesses. Ali, a Somali refugee, has established a successful mini grocery store, and Martin, a Congolese refugee, has established a bustling tailor shop. The two men also employ other Ugandans and refugees in their businesses which helps the Ugandan economy and other refugees become self-sufficient. Alexander Betts launched the Humanitarian Innovation Project to track the progress of refugee entrepreneurs in Uganda, innovate new ways to help them expand their business, and advocate for other countries to allow their refugees to work.
