This article centers on the life of Raw Khu, a Burmese
refugee who moved to the United States fifteen years ago. He originally wanted
to be a doctor or surgeon in Burma, but after moving to the United States, he
could not practice medicine anymore. He worked at various grocery stores and
manufacturing plants, and his family moved around from Louisiana to Minnesota to
Nebraska. Eventually, Khu saved up enough money to open up his own supermarket,
and he also works as a case officer at Lutheran Family Services. He is also
hoping to get ordained as a minister soon. Read more about his story
here.
