Sew For Hope Gives Hope to Refugees in Nashville (The Tennesseean)

Image
Sew for Hope is a program that trains refugee women in Nashville to sew with the goal that they will be able to be entrepreneurs or employ their newfound skills elsewhere. It also connects refugee women to others who are in similar position and helps develop their English skills. Na Nem is a refugee FROM Myanmar who had to quit an extremely physically demanding job when she became pregnant and hopes that this class will allow her to find a more suitable job. She states that she is “grateful” for the class and believes it will provide more opportunities for her future. Read more about the program here.
