The New Roots farm stand located in City Heights is one of over 50 farms dedicated to refugee agriculture. Refugees from everywhere including Congo, Somalia, and Bhutan are able to grow their own crops at various community farms and bring them to weekly farmers’ markets to be put on sale. This initiative gives refugees the chance to grow their own vegetables for profit and provides a chance to connect with their cultures, as many were farmers in their native countries. This program helps refugees learn agricultural techniques and provides a significant source of income.
